June 15, 2006 – Mike Geltrude Foundation begins its education and awareness program in the Nutley School System:
Members of the Geltrude family, along with guest speakers, renowned dermatologist Dr Jeanine Downey, and melanoma survivor, Linda Pilkington, spoke at the Franklin Middle School to over 700 students and educated them about the dangers of skin cancer and how to avoid this type of cancer through using sun safety practices. The students were very engaged and interested in the presentation and asked many important questions. This presentation represents the first in what will be a series of assemblies in all of the schools in Nutley and hopefully throughout the state. The foundation feels that these presentations along with a school curriculum will go along way to raising awareness among young people regarding the dangers and prevention of skin cancer.
