Test Run for Beach Warning Signs

The Mike Geltrude Foundation, working with Assemblyman Fred Scalera, is drafting legislation that would require warning signs at the entrance of every public beach in New Jersey. Should we be successful in passing this into law, New Jersey would be the first state in the nation to do so. In addition, by working in conjunction with the mayor and council of Toms River, signs were posted at all of the entrances to Ortley Beach in 2007. This prototype sign is the first of its kind and marks the first time that a municipality has voluntarily posted warning signs about the sun. We anticipate this to be the beginning of a program that will be implemented throughout the coastline states.
